Carbon Reduction Plan
1. Net Zero commitment and purpose
LS Scientific Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions for its UK operations by 2050 at the latest, and to reducing the environmental impact of its business through sustainable practices. This Carbon Reduction Plan sets out how the carbon, transport and waste commitments in the company's Social and Environmental KPI Framework are delivered through measurable actions, governance and reporting.
2. Carbon reduction objectives
These targets are set out in the Social and Environmental KPI Framework and form interim milestones on the company's pathway to Net Zero by 2050. The baseline year is 2025.
To achieve Net Zero by 2050, LS Scientific Limited will reduce its Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by at least 90% of the baseline year and neutralise any residual emissions through verified carbon removals. Progress against this pathway is reviewed annually, and targets are updated as new data, technologies and supplier options become available.
3. Emissions baseline and measurement
LS Scientific Limited has established a documented annual baseline for its operational emissions using electricity and gas invoices, company-controlled vehicle fuel records and waste information. Emissions are reported in tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e) in line with the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, using the UK Government conversion factors for each reporting year. Scope 1 (direct fuel), Scope 2 (purchased electricity) and Scope 3 emissions are reported separately. Scope 3 covers upstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, business travel, employee commuting and downstream transportation and distribution. Landfill diversion and supplier fleet percentages are tracked as supporting indicators and are not used as substitutes for measured carbon emissions.
4. Carbon reduction initiatives
5. Governance and review
Operational teams maintain source records and report progress to management quarterly. Finance validates utility expenditure and underlying data and supports the cost-benefit assessment of new initiatives. The Managing Director reviews the KPI results annually, identifies corrective actions and approves updated objectives in line with the Social and Environmental KPI Framework.
6. Implementation and reporting timetable
7. Declaration and sign-off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 006 and the associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans. Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, using the appropriate UK Government emission conversion factors. This plan has been reviewed and signed off by the Managing Director on behalf of the board of LS Scientific Limited and is reviewed and published annually.
