Blood Agar Base is used with blood for the isolation and cultivation of a wide variety of fastidious microorganisms. Blood Agar Base is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. An inexpensive, general purpose agar base which, with the addition of 5-7% sterile blood, can be used to cultivate a wide range of microorganisms of indicative significance. Typical hemolysis patterns are obtained with this medium.
