Sodium Chloride is a salt often used when preparing microbiological culture media in a laboratory setting. Sodium Chloride is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.
 
When added to culture media Sodium Chloride allows for adjustments in osmotic pressure.
