Designed for low speeds in cell/tissue culture applications. 
All stir bars are autoclavable. 
No shear effect on the bottom of the vessel; very quiet operation in beakers, even if the bottom is uneven. 
The basket acts as a partition and improves the mixing results. 
The PTFE coating is chemically inert and resistant to aggressive chemicals.
